Community Psychiatric Support Services

Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST) is a rehabilitative service intended to reduce the symptoms of mental illness in order to restore a person’s functioning to the highest level possible.

Program Objective:

• To enhance Community Support Services for Severely Mentally Disturbed (SMD) adults and their families.

• To ensure assessment of need and advocacy with other systems to meet the needs of SMD adults, including housing, employment/educational status, health, budget management, recreation, cultural characteristics, and spiritual needs.

• The CPST provider will coordinate and collaborate services necessary for the person to improve functioning. When it is possible, the CPST provider will help the person remain in their own home or apartment and in their supportive community.
